Coffee is believed to have originated in Ethiopia and then spread to Yemen in the 15th century.The coffee trade and cultivation began in the Arabian Peninsula, and the city of Mocha in Yemen became a center of the coffee trade.Origin

• One legend says that Kaldi, a goat herder, discovered coffee in Ethiopia after noticing its energizing effects on his flock. 
• Coffee was consumed as a beverage in Yemen as early as the 6th century
